Our Curriculum

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, our curriculum is rooted in our Catholic faith and inspired by the example of St Joseph. We aim to nurture the whole child – spiritually, morally, intellectually, socially and physically – so that every pupil grows in wisdom, confidence and compassion.

Our Vision

Our curriculum is ambitious, inclusive and carefully sequenced to ensure that all children, regardless of background or ability, can flourish. Guided by Gospel values, we strive to help pupils develop a love of learning, a strong sense of justice and responsibility, and the skills they need to succeed in modern Britain and beyond.

Curriculum Intent

We intend for our curriculum to:

• Place Catholic life, Religious Education and collective worship at the heart of school life.

• Be broad, balanced and engaging, meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum.

• Build knowledge and skills progressively so that learning is secure and meaningful.

• Promote high expectations and support all learners, including those with additional needs.

• Encourage curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and resilience.

• Prepare pupils to be kind, responsible citizens who respect diversity and serve others.

Curriculum Implementation

Our curriculum is delivered through high-quality teaching and carefully planned learning experiences. Teachers use clear progression, effective assessment and responsive teaching to meet the needs of all pupils. Learning is enriched through:

• Well-chosen texts and vocabulary-rich experiences.

• Practical, hands-on learning and purposeful talk.

Religious Education follows the guidance of the Catholic Education Service and the local diocese, ensuring pupils develop a deep understanding of faith, scripture and tradition.
