Art
At St Joseph’s, we believe that art is a powerful way for children to express creativity, explore their individuality and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation. Our art curriculum encourages pupils to develop their imagination, confidence and skills while taking pride in their work.
We provide a rich and varied art curriculum that builds skills progressively across the school. Children are taught to draw, paint, sculpt and use a range of materials and techniques, learning about colour, texture, line, shape and form. They are introduced to a wide range of artists, craftspeople and designers from different cultures and periods, helping them to develop an understanding of how art reflects and shapes our world.
Art at St Joseph’s supports our Catholic values by encouraging reflection, appreciation of beauty and respect for the talents of others. Opportunities are provided for pupils to explore themes linked to faith, spirituality and the wider curriculum, allowing children to express ideas, feelings and beliefs creatively.
We aim for all pupils to enjoy art, to take creative risks, and to develop resilience and pride in their achievements. Through art, children at St Joseph’s learn to see the world with curiosity, wonder and gratitude.
