Design Technology
At St Joseph’s, Design and Technology is a creative and practical subject that inspires pupils to design, make and evaluate products that solve real and relevant problems. Through a variety of projects, children develop the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to become confident designers, innovative thinkers and reflective learners.
Our Design and Technology curriculum encourages pupils to take risks, be resourceful and work collaboratively, while developing resilience and problem-solving skills. Children learn to research, plan, design, make and evaluate their ideas, using a range of tools, materials and techniques safely and responsibly.
Rooted in our Catholic values, Design and Technology at St Joseph’s promotes respect for God’s creation and an understanding of sustainability, encouraging pupils to consider the impact of their designs on others and the wider world. Children are taught to value teamwork, perseverance and creativity, recognising that their talents are gifts to be developed and shared.
Through engaging, hands-on learning experiences, pupils build essential life skills, apply knowledge from other areas of the curriculum and develop a sense of pride in their achievements, preparing them for the challenges of the future.
